Welcome to Colonial Acres
Colonial Acres is a classic 1960s neighborhood in Glenmont, in the Town of Bethlehem, entered from Feura Bush Road by way of East Bayberry Road. It was planned from the start as a community, with winding roads, large wooded lots, a neighborhood swimming pool and colonial touches like the familiar mailbox huts and lantern-style street signs. Today it borders Colonial Acres Park, the town's former golf course, and remains one of Glenmont's most sought-after addresses.

A Little History
Colonial Acres was built in the mid-1960s on roughly a hundred acres of former farmland, at a time when Glenmont was still largely rural. Developers Jim and Marion Michaels were inspired by Colonial Williamsburg and planned the neighborhood around a pool, a recreation area and a golf course, with colonial design details throughout. The original farmhouse still stands on Feura Bush Road. Read more on the Colonial Acres history page.
The Homes
Most homes were built in the 1960s, with a few added later. You'll find colonials, capes and other traditional styles, typically with 3 to 5 bedrooms and roughly 1,900 to 2,900 square feet on wooded lots of about a third to a half acre or more.
Streets in the neighborhood include East and West Bayberry Road, Saybrook Drive, Cambridge Road, Concord Road, Coventry Road, Derry Road and Olde Coach Road.
Pool and the Neighborhood Association
Colonial-Glenmont, Inc., the Colonial Acres homeowners' association, has served the neighborhood since its early days. Run by an elected volunteer board, it manages the community pool and common property, keeps up the mailbox huts and street signs, reviews exterior changes and organizes social events throughout the year. Homeowners pay modest annual dues; ask us for the current amount. Learn more on the Colonial Acres community website.
Colonial Acres Park
The neighborhood's nine-hole golf course closed in 2019 and is now Colonial Acres Park, a Town of Bethlehem park at 15 Saybrook Drive. It offers a nature walking trail, a 9-hole disc golf course, open space for on-leash dog walks and bird watching, and a pond with koi. In winter it's a local spot for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledding.
